Barnbougle is a links golf course unlike anything ever seen in Australia. You play between, over, and across towering dunes, where breathtaking views and thrilling golf provides a dramatic setting that is equal to the best links courses in the world.
Steve Keipert, Australian Golf Digest in Jan 2005 said “Barnbougle is so jaw-droppingly spectacular that it will be love at first sight for even the most travelled golfer".
The course is strong enough to test the best players but fair enough to be joy for any player. Spectacular views and some of the greatest short holes in the world, it is an18 holes championship links golf course whose layout and design equals the great courses of Britain and Ireland.
Geoff Slattery of Golf Victoria in June 2004 said “I am so lucky to have played such a brilliant course”.
Located on the edge of the small Tasmanian town of Bridport, Barnbougle Dunes is an hour’s drive north-east of Launceston, right on the wild north coast that overlooks Bass Straight.
A course for the people, Barnbougle Dunes continues the tradition of the great American public courses at Pebble Beach and Pinehurst and the Old Course at St Andrews in Scotland, having no members. Everyone is welcome to play and enjoy the first class clubhouse facilities.
Designed by American Tom Doak and Victorian Mike Clayton, the Barnbougle Dunes experience includes:
- a championship 18 holes links golf course that has no equal in Australia;
- driving range, putting green and chipping green with bunkers;
- 4 star accommodation cottages; and
- a spectacular public clubhouse.
